Notary question...

Our new Dr.'s clinic does not have a Notary Public in their office. So, do we need to find our own "traveling" Notary and have them come to the Dr.'s office with us so they can witness the Dr. sign our form and then they can notarize right then? The wording on the document makes it seem that the notary has to witness the signature and the date on the Dr.'s letter and the notary stamp date have to be the same! Ughhh..... this might be the document that holds us up!

Any suggestions?????

We ended up calling a random doctor for this that had a notary there. It was a nightmare because our insurance ended up charging us over 1,000 for the blood test after the fact. Feeling your frustration!

Our agency allows us to add a cover sheet after the doctor signs it, that says "I agree this is a true original document that pertains to me" and then sign it and the notary signs it (at a bank or wherever). I don't think it's agency specific since it's a document for the Eth. Government, so maybe you could check with Gladney. Actually we did most of our documents this way. Good luck!

Hypothetically our notary may have skipped the witnessing part and just notarized it later. It's really helpful if you can find someone you know who is a notary.

Ugh - yes! I had the same problem! Fortunately I have a friend that is a notary so she came to the appt with us, but that is what we had to do. Good luck.

try 123notary.com.... A notary will meet you at the office to witness the signing, for a fee of course. (My friend's MIL did it for us, but that had been my plan before I found out she was a notary.)

That is probably the most frustrating document in the whole dossier, in my opinion!

Ugh. That's terribly frustrating. I am sure there are traveling notaries out there. Chris has a former co-worker who is a notary, and she lives up this way also. Perhaps he could contact her and see if she could help you out. I will see if he has an email address for her.

Well, I don't have an answer to your question but I wanted to say Wow! and Congratulations on starting another adoption! I'm so excited for you! Hope you find a notary soon!

yes we brought a notary with us... lucky for us it was my mom so it wasn't very difficult. i would maybe just call a different dr. or clinic and find one that has somebody in office. that might be easier.

there are lots of notaries who will meet you wherever you need a form signed-and if you are a member of AAA, you can find a notary thru them. you can also look it up in the phone book and i think it is like 30-50 dollars to get a notary to meet you somewhere, or free if you know someone who is a notary :). it si a bit of a pain but really not a big deal in the grand scheme of all the paperwork!! :) good luck!

one of our church staff members is a notary...they came with us. You should ask around your church...sometimes they need one for mission related stuff.
I am so excited that you are adopting a little 4 year old guy- we'll definitely need to connect our kiddos!

I was just going to suggest you ask your church. Ours has a notary on staff.

It is a pain, thankfully our doc office has a notary.

So glad you're moving ahead with Gladney!! Congrats!

I will suggest you Aardvark Notary is very helpful and mistake free. They always have a notary on staff, which is rare, and they have a mobile service for an extra fee.
